Do you have a place that feels like home outside of your actual home? For me it is the lake district, I've been vising since I was knee high to a grass hopper.
I always feel refreshed and inspired with a new prospective whenever I visit.

We were very lucky that the sun shone all week, so on one of the days we took a stroll around Loughrhig tarn, the lambs were softly baaing, I also heard a cuckoo amongst the rustle of leaves from the light breeze.
I was excited to stay at Belle green farm bed and breakfast

Where Beatrix Potter had stayed on a couple of occassions I beleive before she purchased Hill top, it was a few strides away from Hilltop. The owners have framed letters from Beatrix mentioning her stay.
I of course visited Hilltop and sat under an apple tree in the orchard soaking in the garden and views. It was like stepping into one of the pages of her little books with so many recognisable places , the little white gate, the green iron garden gate, the iconic doorway and so much more.

I took Tilly my dog with me she was alowed in the garden but understandably not the house.
Just as a side note If you havent visited before and are arriving by car it would be best to book online as there is very little parking in the small village of Near Sawrey so booking also books a space in the national trust carpark.
I hope if you visit that you also come away feeling equally relaxed, inspired and knowing a little more about the Legacy left to us all by mrs Heelis.
